Frequently Asked Questions
How does Dr. Jeremy Burton contribute to the quality of your probiotics?
Dr. Burton is a recognized leader in probiotics. He manages a leading research lab that studies probiotics and the microbiome, complete with fecal models! He actively publishes cutting edge research, with over 100 research studies you can find here!
Dr. Burton puts his name on our probiotics because he has full control of our formulations. He recommends scientifically-backed strains, efficacious dosage, and effective formulas. For example, it was Jeremy's recommendation to avoid including soil-based bacteria reflecting comparatively fewer safety studies.
Why should I take probiotics?
Probiotics are beneficial bacteria and yeast that live in the gut and can support our microbiome in so many healthful ways! Our microbiome plays a crucial role in aiding digestion, our immune system, metabolism, even our mood and skin! Our formulations include probiotics which may help support regularity, digestion, your immune system, heart health, vaginal health, microflora balance and more!*
This is my first time taking probiotics, what should I expect?
When you start taking probiotics, your body may need some time to adjust to the new gut bacteria (the “adjustment period”). You may experience mild gas, bloating or changes to bowel movements. Don't worry, these symptoms are usually temporary and should go away within a week or two. Keep in mind that everyone's experience with probiotics is different, so you may not experience any symptoms at all! If you have any questions or concerns, contact your healthcare practitioner.*
How often should I take probiotics?
Probiotics should be taken daily for best effect. Probiotics are living microorganisms, and they need to be regularly replenished to maintain their beneficial effects on the gut microbiome.*
Should I take probiotics in the morning or evening?
Take probiotics at the time they work best for your daily routine, whenever that is. Our blister foil packaging can help you store extras where you may need them, at home, the office or in your gym bag.
If this is your first time taking probiotics, we recommend you take them in the morning or afternoon, so you have more control over the initial adjustment period.
Should I take probiotics with food?
Taking probiotics with food is not required. Our capsules are designed to be easily swallowed with any beverage and can be taken with food.
If I forget to take probiotics for a day or longer, what will happen?
Don’t sweat it! Maintaining everyday wellness is a long-term goal (the irony?). Just get back into your routine and be mindful you may have another adjustment period where your body takes time to re-adjust to the new gut bacteria.*
How long does it take for probiotics to work?
You may notice immediate changes to their gut health and digestive process, while others may see changes after a few days or after a few weeks. Everyone’s lifestyle and microbiome are unique, and there is no way to predict how long they will take to work for you.*
When should I consume probiotics when I am on antibiotics?
We recommend taking probiotics a few hours before consuming antibiotics, or a few hours afterwards.
Do your probiotics require refrigeration?
Our probiotics do not need to be refrigerated, but storing them in the refrigerator can help to maintain their potency and extend their effectiveness for a longer period of time.*
What are Triple Class probiotics?
Triple Class formulations include three distinct types of probiotics, from three different genera of probiotics. By formulating our probiotics with a multi-strain approach that also crosses across different genera of probiotics, we can craft a more diverse formulation to promote gut diversity.*
Should I choose probiotics with a higher CFU count?
A higher CFU count probiotic may not be more effective than one with a lower CFU count. High CFU count probiotics may have less reputable strains (that may be unviable after consumed, may not have any studied health benefits or may not have undergone safety studies). Extremely high CFU count probiotics may also create new imbalances in your gut - too much of a good thing! You can learn more by reading Are Higher Probiotic CFU Counts Better?*
